Eschatology for the Layman
The word eschatology meaning "study of the last times", is derived from the Greek, ἔσχατος (eschatos) meaning 'last' and logy meaning "the study of". It is the study of the prophecies and events of the last days as found in the Bible. Eschatology is the most written about and most hotly debated and contentious subject found in Christendom. Most of the scriptures relating to prophecy and the end times are vague, ambiguous and often filled with ancient imagery and symbolism, which leads to many variations of interpretations among the different Christian philosophies. So much so that it creates contentious divisions among us that I am sure the Lord would not be pleased with.
The main subject of eschatology is the Second Coming or Second Advent of Jesus Christ in Glory. His first coming 2,000 years ago was to conquer death and sin through the resurrection and atonement. At Christ's Second Coming, also called the Parousia (Ancient Greek for presence or arrival), He will save those who follow Him and destroy the wicked. All the details of the Savior's Second Coming has been debated among Christians for almost as long as He has been gone. Some of these will be briefly discussed and locations given for further study on each subject...

JK: Today we have the pleasure of having Lewis and Elly Scoonover in for an interview today. Thank you for coming.
Lew: I'm not sure why you wanted an interview with us, Mr. Sellers. I'm not even in the book after all. You do realize that I die before I get a chance to even to speak one line. You should have someone like my grandson, Rick or one of his friends...

Wars and Rumor of Wars.... Matthew 24:6 Prophesies in the News:

American and Israeli F-15s flying in formation. (Wikipedia Commons)
By By JUDAH ARI GROSS, 3 December 2021
"Nearly one year ago, IDF chief Aviv Kohavi stood on stage at an Institute for National Security Studies conference in Tel Aviv and announced that he had ordered the military to begin preparing renewed plans for a strike on Iran's nuclear program.
Iran can decide that it wants to advance to a bomb, either covertly or in a provocative way. In light of this basic analysis, I have ordered the IDF to prepare a number of operational plans, in addition to the existing ones. We are studying these plans and we will develop them over the next year," Kohavi said.
He added: "The government will of course be the one to decide if they should be used. But these plans must be on the table, in existence and trained for..."

The Earth Shall Reel To and Fro...Isaiah 24:20

By Ryan Whitwam
EXTREME TECH
"Pluto used to be the ninth planet, but it lost that distinction several years back. It became the first of many dwarf planets in the outer reaches of the solar system, but there's a hint something larger may lurk out there. Scientists have been on the hunt for a true ninth planet since 2014, and a pair of new studies provide more evidence that such an object exists.
The Kuiper Belt exists in the space out past the orbit of Neptune, so Pluto and the other objects in this region of space are often called Kuiper Belt Objects (KBO). While studying the orbits of KBOs discovered in recent years, astronomers Michael Brown and Konstantin Batygin of Caltech realized there was an unusual clustering or orbits. According to the 2014 paper, this suggests the existence of a super-Earth body in the outer solar system.

The Third Temple
"In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:" Amos 9:11
by Asher Selig Kaufman, Reviewed by Joshua Schwartz
from Biblical Archaeology Society

"There is no site holier for the Jewish people than Jerusalem's Temple Mount, on which the Biblical and Second Temple period Temples stood. Yet nobody really knows what these Temples looked like or where exactly they stood. While extensive archaeological remains have been found from the Temple Mount area, it is generally accepted that that no significant material remains have survived from these Temples.
Lack of information, however, does not necessarily result in lack of reconstructions or in attempts to pinpoint the location of the Temple and its components. The intrinsic holiness of the Temple for Jews, and even for Christians, ignited religious imaginations and architectural fancy with numerous reconstructions throughout the ages. While these reconstructions might be important for the history of art or the history and practice of religion, they do little in terms of providing an historical understanding of the Temple and Temple Mount.
There is, however, a small community of scholars who engage in the scientific study of the Temple Mount and its relevant texts and who seek to provide solutions to the conundrums of building, place and location. Asher Selig Kaufman has long been among the leading scholars of this group...."

"History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new." Eccles. 1:9

From Fourth Turning
"Below is a description of each of the four turnings, including which generational archetype fills each phase of life during that type of era. We also note which generation came of age during the most recent example of each turning, and how it contributed to that era's mood. The descriptions refer to a four-phase model of social change devised by the famous sociologist Talcott Parsons, who hypothesized that society moves into a new phase every time the availability or demand for social order rises or falls..."

"Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshek and Tubal; prophesy against him..." Ezekiel 38:2
"The prophecy of Ezekiel 38 and 39, often referred to as the battle of Gog and Magog, is hands-down one of the most influential end-time prophecies in all of Scripture. But it is also arguably one of the most widely misinterpreted prophecies. This idea that Ezekiel prophesied a Russian-led invasion of Israel is widely taught by numerous well-known and highly respected Bible teachers. The idea finds its basis in the fact that Gog, the leader of the invasion, is from the land of Magog, which, it is claimed, is a reference to Russia. In a previous article, I showed several maps – several created by popular prophecy teachers and several from modern and scholarly referenced Bible atlases. What was quite apparent from that article is that the majority of Bible atlases are not in agreement with the popular belief concerning the location of Magog. While many teach that Magog is a reference to Russia, the Bible atlases all placed Magog in modern-day Turkey. So if modern scholarship does not validate the popular notion that Magog is in Russia, where, then, did this idea come from?
The view rests on two pillars. The first pillar is a quote from the first-century Jewish historian Flavius Josephus, who said, "Magog founded the Magogians, thus named after him, who by the Greeks are called Scythians." The second pillar of support for the Russian-Magog view is a misunderstanding of the historical record and faulty reasoning..."

Come, Follow Me,...Matthew 4:19
BY Matthew Melton
"After speaking a couple of weeks ago Bishop Snow reminded me of a special bond that him and I share. Him growing up in New Zealand and me serving a mission in England makes, today, the day after Christmas is another special day.
I'm sure we can all recall a time in our life where we've looked on a calendar to see the 26th day of December listed as "Boxing Day". As a youth I would see that, and wonder why Vegas, the fighting capital of the world, didn't have a boxing match scheduled on that day. Heck, maybe this talk would be better given by Patrick Mailta, a professional Heavy Weight Boxer who recently joined the Church here in our local congregation.
The real history of Boxing Day is linked to an old British tradition, where the servants of the wealthy were given the day off, since they would have had to serve their masters on Christmas Day. Not only would they get the time off, but their employers would give each servant a box to take home containing gifts, bonuses, and sometimes leftover food. Until the late 20th century there continued to be a tradition among many in the UK to give a Christmas gift, usually cash, to vendors, or to others in need..."
