The Prophecies of Daniel Part 9. Daniel's Fourth Beast was not Rome. It was the Seleucid Empire.

Map of Rome with the Collesium and Roman Emperor

It is understandable that the early church fathers and the Jewish scholars, during the first century AD, believed that Daniel's fourth kingdom was Rome. After all, they were living under the harsh rule of the might of Rome and suffered, at times, intense Roman persecution. Rome certainly seemed to fit the description of Daniel's 4th kingdom. The Roman legions were "strong as iron, for iron breaks and smashes everything . . ." (Dan 2:40) At the beginning of the Christian era, Rome was the dominating power in the Holy Land, Egypt, and Asia Minor where all these scholars lived, worked, and taught. With the advent of the reformation and the protestant movement against the dominance of the Pope in Rome over Christian thought, Rome took even more significance as the 4th kingdom.

This tradition of Rome as the 4th kingdom has been handed down from one generation to the next until today.

At one time I too held to the ancient tradition that Rome was the 4th beast/kingdom in the prophecies of Daniel. However, when I began a more intense study of the book of Daniel with an open mind, I could not make Rome fit into all aspects of the prophecies of Daniel. Rome certainly fulfills some details of Daniels 4th beast but not all. For me it was like I was trying to pound a square peg into a round hole. As I applied the principles of hermeneutics and researched the history of the region, western and central Asia, I just could not make it fit . . .

Update on Books

I joined a great group of writers called the Henderson Writers Group. They have several meetings a week where you can read a few pages and get feedback from experience writers, editors, and literary agents. They have given me valuable advice to improve my writing. I plan on attending the Las Vegas Writers conference in April, and in July the Realm Makers Conference in St Louis. At both conferences I will meet with agents and editors to, hopefully, get my book professionally published. I'll keep you posted. JKS

"Book of Revelation Timeline" by Lewis Puller Scoonover

Scoonover Timeline

As promised, here is Lew's timeline that we talked about last month at the end of his interview. I scanned the document then saved it in PDF format. For ease of study, I placed hyperlinks to the scriptures that he used. Remember that Lew does not have a college education and just like every other theologian who has attempted his hand at interpreting the visions of John, he has his own take on its interpretation. Enjoy, JKS.

"Turkey prepares to clash with Israel, Greece and EU over East Med"

"Turkey has sent a diplomatic note to Greece and Israel, claiming that the two countries must seek "its permission before assuming work on a proposed undersea power cable in Eastern Mediterranean waters," according to reports in Ankara on Monday night.

This comes just days after Israel ended a naval drill with Cyprus, Greece and France. Turkey signed a deal with the embattled government in Libya in 2019 and has been threatening claims by Nicosia and Athens at sea over the past year. . . ."

"EARTH'S MAGNETIC POLES SHOW SIGNS THEY'RE ABOUT TO FLIP—EXPOSING HUMANS TO RADIATION AND PLANET-WIDE BLACKOUTS"

http://www.theharvestatearthsend.com/Newsletter/Images/Vol-3-Reel.jpg

BY KASTALIA MEDRANO, Feb 25, 2020

From Newsweek

"Historically, Earth's North and South magnetic poles have flipped every 200,000 or 300,000 years—except right now, they haven't flipped successfully for about 780,000 years. But the planet's magnetic field is at long last showing signs of shifting. Although there's no way to know yet for sure, it could be gearing up to flip once more, according to Undark Magazine. And that possibility is raising new speculation about what that means for planetary life.

Our planet's magnetic field protects us from lethal levels of radiation from phenomena like solar rays. The dangerous particles never hit us directly, because upon entering the Earth's atmosphere the magnetic field deflects them and forces them to move around, according to NASA. So the prospect of that field weakening, which it does when it's getting ready to flip, is worrisome: It would leave us without sufficient protection.

"Temple Institute encourages Jews to hope for Third Temple in new video"

from The Jerusalem Post

"The Temple Institute has released a new video encouraging Jews to hope for the building of the Third Temple in Jerusalem. The video comes as religious Jews around the world observe the traditional "Nine Days" mourning period leading up to the ninth of the Hebrew month of Av, Tisha Be'Av, when the two Jewish Temples were destroyed.

In the video, entitled – "Tisha b'Av: People Get Ready!" – pictures of dozens of people form a collage as an announcer reads the second verse of chapter 2 of the biblical book of Isaiah, which reads, "It will happen in the end of days: The mountain of the Temple of Hashem will be firmly established as the head of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills, and the nations will stream to it..."

"Timing of Generations and Turnings"

From Fourth Turning

"The basic length of both generations and turnings—about twenty years—derives from longstanding socially and biologically determined phases of life. This is the reason it has remained relatively constant over centuries.

Some have argued that rapid increases in technology in recent decades are shortening the length of a generation. This is not the case. As long as the transition to adulthood occurs around age 20–22, the transition to midlife around the early 40s, and the transition to old age around age 65, the basic length of both generations and turnings will remain the same. After all, human history is made of lives, coursing from birth to death. Of the cycles known to man, the most basic, perhaps, is the human life cycle. No other societal force, not class, not nationality, not culture, not technology, has as predictable a chronology. ..."

Joel 2:3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

B61-nuclear-bomb

"Why Is America Still Storing Dozens Of Nuclear Weapons In Turkey?"

by Kyle Mizokami from The National Interest

"One of the longest-serving nuclear weapons in America's arsenal is the B61 nuclear free-fall bomb. The B61 bomb was first introduced in 1966 with more than three thousand bombs produced to date. The bomb is famous for its adjustable yield capability, giving it the versatility to operate in both the tactical and strategic nuclear roles. The United States forward deploys many of the bombs in Europe, with up to fifty bombs currently maintained at Incirlik Air Force Base in Turkey.

In 1960, Sandia National Laboratory and Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory began development of a new nuclear free-fall bomb. The bomb, nicknamed FUFO (full fuzing option), would be capable of adjusting its explosive yield to the mission, high-speed or low-speed delivery, high altitude or low altitude delivery, and airburst or contact burst fuzing capability. Each B61 is 11.8 feet long, 13 inches wide and weighs approximately 700 pounds. (The B61-11, an earth-penetrating version of the bomb, weighs an extra 450 pounds.)..."

Come, Follow Me,...Matthew 4:19

Jesus bekoning disciples

"Following Jesus Christ"

by Thomas A. Tarrants, III Director of Ministry, C.S. Lewis Institute

"As Jesus traveled throughout Israel urging people to repent and believe the gospel, "Follow me" was a constant refrain in his message. At the beginning of his ministry, he called his first disciples with the terse command, "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." As his ministry progressed, he told the crowds, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow me" (Mark 8:34). At the end of his earthly ministry, he recommissioned the repentant Peter with the words, "Follow me" (John 21:19).

Have you ever probed the meaning of this phrase? If not, you should, because it can lead to a profound, transforming change in how you think about and live the Christian life. Perhaps this article can help get you started.

What does it mean to follow Jesus? Following Jesus begins when we respond to his call to repent and believe the gospel. The Good News that God loves us and has taken the initiative to reconcile us to himself by giving his Son to atone for our sins awakens us to God's grace and moves us to want to live for Christ and follow him..."

Emergency Preparedness

"If ye are prepared ye shall not fear..."

"Emergency Preparedness Manual"

Emergency Preparedness

Here is an emergency preparedness manual I put together for my congregation years ago. It was written for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but can be used by anyone, really. In it you will find a first-aid manual for almost anything, from Amputation to Tooth lose. In addition, I included how to prepare for most situations from the less threatening power outage all the way to a life changing EMP event. In the appendixes are instructions for subjects like food and water storage, first-aid and 72 hour kits, and communications.
